This work maps Miami Beach as an island condition. Surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean and Biscayne Bay, it exists in a state of exposure—geological, ecological, and political. The ground is not fixed; it is shaped by water, light, and time. Much of it is constructed, dredged into being, held in place against erosion and disappearance. I draw only this territory. Not the mainland, not the expanding city, but this narrow strip where boundaries are visible and unstable. Here, the horizon is constant, and orientation dissolves into atmosphere. The line follows no grid. It drifts.It registers a body moving through wind, humidity, salt, and sun—through a landscape where nature and artifice cannot be separated. This map is not descriptive. It is a passage. An attempt to locate oneself within a place that is always shifting. A way of drawing home at the edge. This map is a living line across Miami Beach, an island suspended between ocean and bay. It holds both fragility and possibility: a landscape shaped by water, light, and time. As I trace this line, it carries both loss and renewal—displacement and belonging—inviting us to see the edge not as an end, but as a place of transformation.
